Spyderco Native FRN Black Blade

Engineered for the human hand, the Native's ergonomic design maximizes cutting ability while minimizing discomfort and fatigue. This model is all about combining performance and comfort. Since the portion of the knife most in contact with the user is the handle, that became key while the model was in initial development on the drawing table.

We've created a handle pattern with two separate finger choils. The first choil (where the blade and handle meet) allow positioning the index finger closer to the knife's sharpened edge for control over the cutting surface. Behind the first choil, the second positions the hand farther back on the folder for dexterous cutting while pushing the blade away from you. Bi-Directional Texturing molded into the FRN handle form varying levels of steps minimizing forward or backward sliding.

Carved out of the locking lever is a David Boye Dent insuring the lock remains safely engaged even when gripping the handle forcefully. A section of non-sharpened serrations line the blade's spine yield an additional slip resistant point for the thumb. The blade itself is hollow-ground CPM-S30V steel with a weight reducing swedge ground from the spine.

A black steel tip-up clip can be placed ambidextrously on both sides of the handle via a barrel-shaped screw that doubles as a lanyard.

The New AK-47 Tactical Folders by Cold Steel

In 1947 Mikhail Kalashnikov, the legendary Russian gun designer, created the AK-47 assault rifle. Eventually adopted by the Red Army in 1949, it became famous as the "People's Rifle". Such renown was well deserved, as it was an utterly reliable weapon. It was rugged, simple to operate and maintain, economical, and effective at reasonable ranges. This weapon, and all it represents became the inspiration for our heavy duty tactical knives, the AK-47 folders. Designed by Andrew Demko, the AK-47's possess all of the attributes of their namesake, and perhaps a few more.

They're built for hard and rugged use and are available in two sizes. Both sizes have many features in common. For instance, both are equipped with G-10 handles that offer a vigorous grip that is remarkably tough, rigid and incomparably strong. Also, each size comes with a unique pommel made out of 6061 aluminum. The pommels feature a lanyard hole and can also serve as a "less than lethal" percussion tool in a self-defense situation.

Additionally, the hollow ground blades are honed by hand until they reach levels of sharpness only seen on a surgeon's scalpel. They're made from Japanese AUS 8A Stainless steel, then vacuum heat-treated and sub zero quenched for maximum toughness. The blades are coated with black Teflon® for corrosion resistance and to enhance cutting power and to improve edge retention by reducing friction.

To compliment such exceptional blades we have paired them with our state of the art Tri-Ad® lock. In our testing, the Tri-Ad® has proved to be superior to any other lock on the market today in terms of overall strength and resistance to shock induced by blows on the spine (eclipsing virtually all locks in short order) or the even more devastating shock by over-strike that lands on the handle.

Finally, to assure easy access, and swift operation, the AK-47's come with an ambidextrous pocket clip and our new patented thumb plate. The thumb plate has a dual purpose, it allows the knife to be drawn and quickly opened by snagging it on the edge of a pocket or it can be used like a conventional thumb stud or disc for easy one-handed opening.

The New - Spyderco Bill Moran Drop Point Safety Orange FRN

Spyderco’s first fixed blade was designed by none other than the late Mr. William Moran, Master at the Forge and founder of the American Bladesmith’s Society. It was released in the 1990s and hasn’t undergone any changes since then, remaining true to Moran’s original design. The Moran/Spyderco collaboration is the ultimate outdoor camp/survival style knife. New for 2009 Spyderco offers the knife with an easy-to-see safety orange handle.

Spyderco engineers opted to use VG-10 stainless steel for the blade. Due to its extremely high carbon content and tight grain structure, VG-10 takes and holds a superior edge. The Moran-style skinning blade is 3-7’8” (99mm) with a satin finish. We’ve ground it fully-flat for high performance cutting.

The knife justly earns the name Featherweight by incorporating an ergonomic lighter than air, handle of safety orange FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) with black non-slip Kraton® side grips.

It carries in Boltaron® sheath equipped with a G-Clip clip system that attaches to a belt or waistband in a cross-draw, horizontal, inverted, vertical or small of back position.
